Mom Reveals How Dishwasher Tablets Can Leave Your Oven Door Looking Like New

There are certain utensils which are magnets for gathering dirt and grime, and one of the most notorious is the oven. Even with the best will in the world, avoiding grease and fat splurting off your food and onto its window is nigh on impossible. And because of the heat, it quickly dries into its surface, creating marks which take more than a little elbow grease to remove!

While there are, understandably, a lot of quick-fix solutions on the market, they're often expensive and ineffective, leaving most of us with no option but to get down on our hands and knees and scrub, and, even then, the results are less than satisfactory.

However, it turns out that the solution to this all too common problem is a lot simpler than any of us could have imagined. And, better still, it involves using an inexpensive item that 99.9% of homes have in abundance: dishwasher tablets.

The ingenious hack was made public knowledge by one Australian mom who took to Facebook to share it. According to the Daily Mail, the mom in question, like so many of us, had tirelessly tried to find an effective solution to the problem.

She, as you most likely have, invested a lot of money in cleaning products, but it wasn't until she decided to soak a dishwasher tablet in warm water that she struck gold - a solution which she claims removed the dirt "almost immediately".

Unlike the traditional method of good old fashioned elbow grease, this is a hack which won't take up much of your energy, but still reward you with seriously impressive results. All you need to do is gently rub the tablet against the surface.

Taking to the Facebook group, Moms Who Clean, she wrote, "After years of using strong chemicals and a tonne of elbow grease to clean my oven, I am amazed that all it takes is a dishwasher tablet, warm water and a light scrub."

"I didn't think it would be that easy," the mom continued, accompanying the post with her impressive before and after pictures.

Explaining how the effective method worked, the mom wrote, "Pot of warm water, dipped the dishwasher tablet in and lightly used it to scrub the glass. Back and forth dipping into the water to keep it moist and washing the grime off."

By now, you're probably wondering why dishwasher tablets do what so many other products have failed to do, and the answer to this question lies in their chemical makeup. Simply put, their main ingredient breaks down food particles, which, aside from coating our dirty dishes, can be found in abundance on our grime-filled oven doors.

So, it only stands to reason that this hack would be helpful on other food-covered devices too, like oven racks. However, in this instance, you need to wrap the racks in tin foil, put in the tablet then soak them in warm water for a minimum of two hours.

After the hack was shared, many moms shared their experiences and thanked the OP for enlightening them.

"I did mine today too... worked a treat," wrote one mom.

Another explained that she used the same principle to get stubborn food off her dishes, writing, "I always use dishwashing tablets if I have food really stuck on a dish. Fill it with hot water and soak overnight. Amazingly clean the next day."

So, the next time a pie explodes in your oven (okay, maybe that's just me), you don't need to panic about the cleanup operation!
