Creative Ways To Make Flowers Out Of Tissue Paper!

Here we show how to make four different flowers, in four different ways!

Roses

You will need:

  • Red crepe paper streamer
  • Green crepe paper streamer
  • Scissors
  • Bamboo stick
  • Glue stick

Method:

  1. Begin by cutting off a strip from the red crepe paper streamer.
  2. Fold the strip along, continuously keeping the same rectangle shape/width.
  3. Once it is all folded and there are several layers within, cut a section off the top, in a curved, semi-circle motion.
  4. Now glue the top of the bamboo stick.
  5. Roll out the streamer and start sticking one end to the top of the stick.
  6. Wind the stick along the streamer, and then the fun begins with the creation of the petals!
  7. To create the petals, as you wind the streamer around, you need to then fold and curve it as you go, making petal shapes.
  8. Continue to do this until you get to the end of the streamer.
  9. Glue the last bit onto the stick to secure it.
  10. Get the green crepe paper streamer, cut a long section off and begin to wrap around the rest of the bamboo stick. Secured at the end with glue (and cutting off excess if necessary).
  11. To make the green leaves, repeat the process you did previously in the second instruction.
  12. Cut a leaf shape into this roll.
  13. Finally, stick on a few of these leaves underneath the rose.

Golf Ball Flowers

You will need:

  • Golf ball (or any ball of a similar size)
  • Yellow tissue paper
  • Wire (we used floristry wire, you could also tie them with an elastic band)

Method:

  1. Layer up 8 tissue paper rectangles. (Around 25cm x 15cm)
  2. Grab a golf ball and place on top of the rectangles, just a bit off centre.
  3. Start to wrap the sides of the tissue paper around the ball and then twist one end around, candy wrapper style. Repeat with the other end. It helps to glue the end of the twists around if they need to be more secure.
  4. Remove golf ball.
  5. Cut a bit off the top twist.
  6. Repeat the process 4 more times to make 5 of these petals.
  7. Combine these petals together, by holding all the long twists and folding the petals out.
  8. Secure the twisted ends together with wire or an elastic band.

Pipe Cleaner Flowers

You will need:

  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Pink tissue paper
  • Scissors

Method:

  1.  Start by cutting out 8 layers of tissue paper circles.
  2.  Make two holes in the middle of these circles (we used a bamboo stick to do this).
  3. Grab the pipe cleaner and thread it up and through one of the holes and then back  down through the other. When threading it through, make sure it meets halfway with the other end of the pipe cleaner.
  4. Wrap the end of the pipe cleaner you have threaded through a couple of times around the other.
  5. Then use the remaining part to make a leaf shape and secure.
  6.  Now, for the tissue paper petals, pull each layer up and ruffle a bit and ta-dah!

Chrysanthemums

You will need:

  • Pink tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Stapler

Method:

  1. Begin with 8 sheets of pink tissue paper layered over each other (20cm x 30cm is a good size to go by at first).
  2. Start to ‘accordion fold’ these by folding a line, turning it over, folding another back on itself, and turning it back over again. Repeat this until you have reached the end of the paper.
  3. Grab that stapler and staple the middle of the folded tissue paper, so that all the layers and folds are secure.
  4. Cut a curved section off both ends.
  5. Fan it out.
  6. Start pulling each layer of tissue paper up and out of the folds
  7. Once you have pulled each layer apart and ruffled around, then you will have your tissue paper Chrysanthemum! These are great for decor and can always be placed around on a table, or stuck on the wall!
